Content is king. I know, you've heard it and if you haven't I'm afraid you've had your head in the sand and it's time to dig it out. It's true content is very important when it comes to marketing and I'm going to show you why.

Inside Tucson Business published an interesting article online yesterday about the difference between selling for regular, for-profit companies versus selling for non-profits. The author, Sam Williams, concludes that the type of prospect and cost of the 'product' has much more to do with how you sell it than the type of company you're selling for. Someone selling expensive equipment will have a similar sales approach as someone soliciting major contributors for a university. And a salesperson with a small, commodity-type line of products will have a similar sales system as a collector of small donations for a charity.

These are tough times in which to be a salesperson. When a recession lasts this long, people really cut their spending to the bone - consumers and businesses both. It makes for a buyer's market in which the buyers make all the rules because they have all the power. Salespeople have to get along as best they can.
